Aaaaaaaaaargh!!!!

Happy days are here again…

1: The gov’mint…

Such as it is.  ‘Never in the field of human politics has so much been fucked up by so few in such a short time…’

After the Johnson Sleaze Years we had the ‘Truss me I’m a politician’ shortest premiership (and biggest fuckup) in the nation’s history and now it looks as if either the loser in the last ‘election’ or the ousted and disgraced former w*nker (sorry: Premier) may return to spread further sleaze, chaos and consternation among a demoralised populace.  Revolution, anybody?

2: The War…

WWIII anyone?

3.The economy (see (1) above…

Most of the problems are caused by the Gov’s determination not to upset any of their ‘mates’ in the City.

OK, so there’s a war on: but why does that mean that we can’t

a) Slap some windfall taxes on the excessive profits made by the energy companies: Their profits should be capped and any excess returned to the end users (and not swallowed up by the Treasury).

b) Decouple the enrgy price markets from the price of gas and between the different generating methods: after all, the increase in the price of gas hasn’t directly increased the cost of wind or solar generation, so why should those costs increase too?

c) Target support to those most in need: after all, many pensioners on a decent employer’s scheme don’t really need the money (yet?): it could be passed on to those who do!

I’m afraid that the ‘free market’ way of running our economy was discredited during the pandemic by lots of almost-crims soaking off the Gov’mint’s desperation.  And there won’t be any comeback, either…  The energy crisis just reinforces the obvious fact that if you let people screw the system, they wil…

As I said at the start: Happy days are here again…
